The answer for virtually every gas boiler is annual — once every 12 months. This isn't just our recommendation; it's what most manufacturers require to maintain your warranty, and what Gas Safe guidance recommends.
Why annual servicing?
Each year, a boiler accumulates carbon deposits on the burner, scale on heat exchangers (in hard water areas), potential blockages in the condensate trap, and wear on ignition components. Annual servicing catches these issues before they become breakdowns — and keeps the boiler running at peak efficiency.
Warranty requirements
Worcester Bosch, Vaillant, Ideal, Baxi, and most other major brands require annual servicing by a Gas Safe registered engineer to maintain the full warranty. A single missed service can provide grounds to reject a warranty claim.
The best time of year
We recommend April–September: after the winter rush, before the autumn surge. Summer servicing means our diary is less full, you can often choose your preferred appointment time, and any issues discovered can be fixed before the heating season starts. Avoid leaving it until November — our diary fills rapidly in the run-up to winter.
What if I've missed a year?
Book one now. Don't compound a missed service by missing more. We'll service the boiler, note the missed period in the service record, and advise if anything needs attention. Some manufacturers will honour warranty claims for gaps if a history of regular servicing is demonstrable.
