Intergas is a Dutch manufacturer that has built a devoted following among heating engineers for one reason above all others: exceptional reliability through mechanical simplicity.
The design philosophy
Where most modern boilers use a diverter valve to switch between heating and hot water modes, the Intergas Combi Compact uses two separate heat exchangers — one for heating, one for domestic hot water — operating simultaneously. The diverter valve is eliminated entirely. Since diverter valve failure is one of the most common repair jobs on modern combis, removing it entirely is a significant reliability advantage.
Efficiency
Up to 92% ErP — slightly below the top performers but solidly A-rated. The efficiency figure doesn't fully tell the story because the system operates continuously (no diverter valve cycling) which in practice can mean lower real-world gas consumption.
Reliability record
Intergas consistently scores at the top of Which? and Gas Safe engineer surveys for reliability and owner satisfaction. The simplified design simply has fewer components to fail.
Warranty
Up to 10 years with registration — strong for the brand's positioning.
Verdict
If reliability is your primary concern and you want a boiler that will simply work for years without drama, Intergas deserves a place on your shortlist. It's our recommendation for homeowners who prioritise dependability over the highest efficiency figures or the most sophisticated controls.
