A boiler warranty is only as good as your adherence to its conditions. Here's how to make sure you're protected for the full term.
Register immediately
Most manufacturers require warranty registration within 30 days of installation. We register on your behalf as part of our installation service — but if you're using a different installer, make sure they register promptly. Missing the registration window typically limits your warranty to a much shorter period (often just 1 year).
Annual servicing — the most important requirement
All major boiler warranties (Worcester Bosch, Vaillant, Ideal, Baxi) require annual servicing to remain valid. The service must be carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer, and a service record must be kept. We provide a dated service record after every annual visit.
Fit a magnetic filter
Worcester Bosch and Vaillant explicitly state that sludge-related damage (the most common cause of heat exchanger failure) is not covered under warranty unless a magnetic filter was fitted at installation. We fit one on every new installation as standard.
Use inhibitor
Some manufacturers check inhibitor levels when considering warranty claims. Low inhibitor (indicating the system wasn't properly maintained) can be used to reject a claim. We test and top up inhibitor at every annual service.
Keep records
Retain the original installation documentation, warranty certificate, and all service records. If a warranty claim is ever needed, this documentation is essential.
