Vaillant is one of Germany's most prestigious residential boiler brands with decades of UK presence. Intergas is a Dutch manufacturer known for its exceptionally simple, high-reliability design — fewer moving parts means fewer failure points.
Engineering philosophy
Intergas HRE Combi: built around a single heat exchanger for both central heating and domestic hot water, eliminating the diverter valve (a common failure point in conventional combis). This design simplicity gives Intergas an impressive reliability record.
Reliability
Intergas boilers consistently rank highly in engineer reliability surveys — the single heat exchanger design eliminates one of the most common combi boiler failure modes. Vaillant ecoTEC is also very reliable. Intergas may have an edge on long-term reliability.

Verdict
Intergas is a genuinely excellent boiler — the single heat exchanger design is clever engineering. But Vaillant's larger UK service network and longer warranty make it the safer long-term choice for most homeowners.
