Baxi has been making boilers in the UK since 1866, making it one of the country's oldest heating brands. Our engineers install Baxi regularly and have strong views on where it sits in the market.
The range at a glance
Baxi's residential range runs from the entry-level 600 series through the popular 700 series to the premium 800 series. All are A-rated condensing boilers available as combi, system, and regular configurations.
What our engineers think
Build quality: The 600 series is solidly built for the price — not premium, but not fragile either. The 800 series is noticeably better quality, with a more robust heat exchanger and superior components throughout.
Installation: Baxi boilers are well-designed from a plumber's perspective — logical component layout, clear commissioning procedures, and helpful documentation. These make installation smooth and reduce the chance of post-installation problems.
Reliability: In our experience, the 700 and 800 series are notably more reliable than the 600. If you're choosing Baxi, the 700 is our minimum recommendation for a family home.
The British manufacturing angle
Baxi manufactures in the UK (Bamber Bridge, Lancashire), which matters to many customers. Spare parts are generally good availability across the country.
Our verdict
The Baxi 800 Combi 1 25kW is our most recommended Baxi model — excellent reliability, competitive pricing, 10-year warranty, and strong hot water performance. A solid choice at a fair price.
