New boiler day is exciting — but a little preparation the day before makes everything go more smoothly. Here's what to do.
Clear the boiler area
Remove anything stored under or around your existing boiler. Our engineers need clear access to work safely and efficiently. If the boiler is in a kitchen, clear the surrounding cupboard contents if access is needed behind panels.
Think about where you want controls
If you're upgrading to a smart thermostat or new programmer, decide where you'd like it positioned before the engineers arrive. Good positioning (central, at eye height, away from cold draughts) improves accuracy.
Plan for water to be off
Your water supply will be turned off for periods during the installation. Do any washing-up, fill water bottles, and make sure everyone in the house knows in advance.
Ensure access to loft and airing cupboard
If our engineers need to access your loft (to check the header tank) or airing cupboard (for the hot water cylinder), make sure these areas are accessible and reasonably clear.
Keep pets secured
Our engineers will be going in and out all day. For the safety of your pets and to allow our team to work efficiently, keep pets in a separate room or secure area during the installation.
On the day
Make a cup of tea for the engineers (no obligation, but always appreciated!) and feel free to ask questions at any point. We're happy to explain exactly what we're doing and why.
