Old boilers contain various materials that must be disposed of properly — not simply thrown in a skip. Here's what we do with your old boiler.
What's inside an old boiler
Gas boilers contain copper heat exchangers (valuable scrap), various metals, some plastics, and electronic components. They must be disposed of as WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) in many cases.
Our disposal process
We carry removed boilers to a registered waste processing facility. Metals are separated for recycling (copper in particular is valuable). Electronic components go to WEEE processing. We're a licensed waste carrier — your removal is handled compliantly.
Is there a charge?
No — removal and disposal of your old boiler is included in our installation price. No hidden extras.
What about the system water?
When we drain and refill the system, the old (contaminated) system water is disposed of properly. We dose the clean system with fresh inhibitor and confirm the system is clean before commissioning the new boiler.
Asbestos note
Very old boilers and flue components (pre-1985) may occasionally contain asbestos. If we identify any concerns, we'll advise before proceeding and use a licensed asbestos removal specialist if necessary.
