Worcester Bosch Greenstar boilers lock out (stop working) and display a fault code when they detect a problem. Here's how to safely attempt a reset.
How to reset a Worcester Bosch Greenstar
- Check the pressure gauge — should read 1–1.5 bar. Re-pressurise if needed before resetting.
- Note the fault code displayed on the screen
- Press and hold the reset button (marked with a flame symbol with an arrow) for 3 seconds
- Release the button — the boiler should attempt to restart
- Wait 2–3 minutes for the ignition sequence to complete
Common fault codes
- EA 229: Ignition fault — can sometimes be resolved by a reset. If it persists, call an engineer.
- F.22: Low pressure — re-pressurise first, then reset
- F.75: Pressure sensor fault — engineer required
- CL: Not a fault — just the current comfort level setting
When NOT to keep resetting
If the boiler locks out again within 30 minutes of a reset, stop. Repeated resets on a genuinely faulty boiler can damage internal components. One or two reset attempts is reasonable. After that, call an engineer for a diagnosis.
